RAINBOW BRIDGE – END OF LIFE CARE

Saying goodbye to a loved one is never easy – whether human or animal. Our pets become a part of our family. As such, deciding when it’s time to let them go can be one of the most difficult and emotional decisions one ever has to face. At 30th Street Animal Hospital, we understand how hard this can be, because we’ve been in your shoes. We too have had to make the difficult choice of when to let go, and experienced the pain and grief of those final moments.

When the time comes to relieve your four-legged family member of his or her suffering, we want you to know that our compassionate team will be here to help in that process.

Euthanasia appointments are scheduled as the last morning or last evening appointments to allow you to spend as much time as you need with your loved one and ensure that those final moments are quiet, peaceful and uninterrupted.

When it’s time, an IV catheter will be placed in the vein to allow easy access to administer the solutions. A sedation is typically administered prior to euthanasia to help relax your pet. The entire process of passing takes just a few minutes and you can stay with your furry friend during this time, or if you prefer, a member of our staff will step in to provide comfort and love on your behalf.

At 30th Street Animal Hospital, we use a cremation service called Pet Angel. With this service, you can choose individual cremation – meaning you will receive your pet’s individual remains, or you can choose group cremation. Group cremation is where ashes are not delivered back to the owner.

Pet Angel also has several beautiful urns to choose from, along with brass name plates for personalization with a birth and passing date. They also offer a touching memento called Love Never Leaves, which is a shadow box frame that allows for a picture of your pet on one side and a clay paw print on the other.

Please see the attached link to Pet Angel for more information.

At 30th Street Animal Hospital, we consider it an honor to help make the passing of your cherished loved one a dignified and peaceful experience.

If you’d like more information about our euthanasia and/or cremation services, or you need help deciding whether the time is right, please don’t hesitate to call us. We want you to know that you’re not alone during this difficult time.
